Our Story

n 1967, the late T.J. Botha, began Impala Steel as a company focused on the transportation of steel. In 1986, Gerhard Indwe Botha joined his father in the business. Gerhard quickly realised that there was a huge gap in the market for the repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles.

The focus of the company was expanded from logistics to include the rebuilding and refurbishing of heavy vehicles and in 1989 Impala Truck was born. This was only the beginning of Gerhard’s passion for entrepreneurship.

The group currently owns approximately 250 000 square metres of prime industrial property, especially acquired and developed for the needs of the ever growing group.

Also important to the company’s legacy is the more than 10 000 hectares of agricultural properties in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, where Impala diversified into game breeding and the growth of maize and soya crops – as well as the establishment of a commercial feedlot for cattle.
